Location: Reynisfjara Beach, Iceland
Description: A self portrait taken on the black sand beaches of Iceland during my first visit to that beautiful country... This place left me in total awe. I've always had an incredible respect for the ocean and it's powerful churning waters. As much as I am a mountain or a forest girl, it's still the sea that I find to be most captivating. I could stare at it for hours, breathing in the salty, misty air while the wind pulls and tangles my hair, and I still never tire of watching the waves crash into the shore, each one different from the last. It's mesmerizing, frightening, awe-inspiring and yet completely calming to me all at the same time. I took this photo as part of my "Red Dress Series" (started in Iceland) and to capture the feeling of walking onward into this life, always with a continual sense of wonder, gratitude and appreciation for everything that's right here in front of us.
