A self portrait taken among these ancient ruins, in what seemed to be the middle of nowhere, lost in the wild highlands of Scotland. This was taken during a 400km trek across Scotland with my partner, Kris. We carried this medieval dress and a sword with us for the entire duration of our journey - 3 weeks of navigating our way through the mountains, bogs and coastline, living out of our backpacks as we made our way northward, from Fort William to the end of the land at Cape Wrath.
When we came across these ruins at about 2 weeks into the journey, we were inspired to dig our photography props out of our heavy backpacks and create this image. There was something about the ancient ruins that spoke to me... how they just keep holding on, even though they've been lost to time and the wilderness. And yet they remain, ever enduring.
