Title: Mother Nature

Description: One of my all-time personal favourite self portraits I've had the honour of creating - this image took several different days and attempts to capture! When I first saw this magical little tree growing out of a cliff in Scotland (and with brand new springtime leaves!), I immediately imagined creating a scene depicting Mother Nature's caring hand, allowing the earth to blossom and grow. I used the green dress to match myself to nature as closely as possible - a colour that I find represents a calm, caring presence.
The first day we found this tree, this photo idea was planted in my mind - but the light was too harsh during the midday blue sky, so we came back the next morning... and that time, there were too many tourists shooting the tree at sunrise (which surprised me, as there was no one there the day before!), so we decided to come back at midday on a cloudier day... so finally, on day three, there were a few clouds to create some softer light, so we rushed to this tree and I was finally able to create this scene that kept growing in my mind over those three days. I only hope I can do this tree justice - what a special place!
